PROJECTS

Patriots Ghana is passionate about seeing development in key development areas which is a need to our nation, Ghana. Patriots Ghana team has researched and identified key areas which have development Gaps and therefore focusing and directing our resources in the below specific projects under their various development sectors to help achieve meaningful development in Ghana through our nationwide collaborative efforts.



HEALTH PROJECTS

Maternal Health Projects

Cervical & Breast Cancers
  1. Ø  Raising awareness of the diseases in schools and rural communities.
  2. Ø  Raising funds to organize cervical and breast cancer screenings.
  3. Ø  Create opportunities for less privileged women to have free treatment for the cancers if diagnosed positive.
  4. Ø  Devising strategies to reduce maternal mortality through increased access to improved child delivery services.

Public Health Projects
  1. Ø  Increasing awareness campaigns on issues including HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Cholera, Cervical Cancer, Maternal Health issues, Reproductive Health and many more depending on the need of the adopted community or where we operate.
  2. Ø  Organize free health screenings for communities that are remote and mostly deprived of health access.
  3. Ø  System reform and Advocacy Campaigns to help influence positive healthcare policies that would assist the local people especially the less privileged.

EDUCATION PROJECTS

Professional Development and Capacity Building for rural schools

  1. Ø  Help organize In-service training in partnership with the Ghana Education Service for both government and private schools to help provide good development for the Ghanaian Child. Areas would include lesson planning & presentation, class management, sensitizing teachers to stop caning in schools and use of other punishments .etc

Scholarships for Brilliant but Needy Students

  1. Ø  The Patriots Ghana would work with partner schools through the help of headmasters and teaching volunteers to identify needy but brilliant pupils where the foundation would provide support for these children to realize their dream and also to reduce school dropout rate.

Quiz competitions and awards for rural schools

  1. Ø  This project activity aims at encouraging rural school children to study hard in school and also to award hardworking teachers in rural communities. Competitions and awards are organized for deprived schools to help create an atmosphere of effective learning and arena for competition and hard work amongst school children. Teacher’s performances would be accessed and awarded through the heads of schools and the Ghana Education Service.

Reading Mentoring Project (Improving Reading habits amongst Ghanaian schools)

  1. Ø  It has been proven through several researches that reading helps to create an opportunity for students to gain more knowledge and hence become very good students. This project aims to sensitize schools on basic reading habits and strategies where school children can develop the habit of reading to help build their knowledge base.

Campaign for Children with Learning disabilities Project

  1. Ø  The Campaign for Learning Disabilities is concerned with children with specific learning disabilities who are at a disadvantaged status when compared with their peers who can cope with the normal learning system. Our focus is to enhance the quality of life for children with specific learning disabilities and their families through advocacy, education, health, vocational skills training, and support research.

Organizing volunteer teaching support services

  1. Ø  Both local and international volunteers who have the interest in assisting in a local school can volunteer for a minimum of 3 weeks to help make a difference in a local school.

System reform Advocacy

  1. Ø  Patriots would conduct research into the educational needs of the various regions of Ghana and provide advice and support to the Ministry of Education to help improve the educational system of Ghana.

CHILD LABOUR AND TRAFFICKING

The mission of the Stop Child Labor & Trafficking Project is to combat the endemic problem of child labour and trafficking in the fishing communities of Ghana through education, rehabilitation, and community empowerment.  Patriots Ghana provides educational sponsorship to current child labourers and children who have returned from being trafficked. We raise awareness on the dangers of child labour and trafficking and education sessions for parents and fisherman on the importance of a basic education for their children. The project also targets children’s rights, basic literacy, financial management, and community pride.



YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

The youth empowerment aspect of Patriots Ghana will seek to encourage and train youth to be passionate about Ghana’s development, proactive, creative, and intelligent and also act on their behalf. Ironically, youth are often excluded from conversations and programmes that seek to improve the life chances and options of youth. The youth empowerment aspect of the program will focus on improving the availability of quality education across Ghana and increasing civic engagement of Ghana’s youth. Patriots Ghana youth empowerment activity will include:
  1. Ø  Connecting youth organizations across the country to share best practices and strategize nationally on youth issues.
  2. Ø  Youth entrepreneurship programmes.
  3. Ø  Engaging the youth in community volunteering services.
  4. Ø  Creating National platforms for youth to make sure their voices are heard.
  5. Ø  Organizing regional and national youth summits.
  6. Ø  Preparing the youth for the job market.



ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Many of the challenges facing Ghana and its citizens are rooted in poverty. To address this root cause, Patriots Ghana will seek to empower local communities through developing economic independence and break the cycle of poverty and all of the social ills associated with it. Programs designed to end poverty in Ghana include:

Microfinance
  1. Ø  Assisting women and youth in Agriculture, Arts and small trade to obtain small micro-loans to be able to start-up small business on their own or to expand their existing small businesses
  2. Ø  Provide financial training for these women and youth to be capable of managing their business and also manage their finances well to ensure success in trade and hence be sustainable  
Rural community development

There are several government and private schools and health facilities that need certain basic refurbishing to create a good working environment for workers and also to maintain the strength of the structure but have been abandoned for many years and broken down.  The organisation helps to refurbish these structures and possibly help some of these offices to get some basic office needs like computers etc that can aid their work. 
  1. Ø  Constructing schools, clinics, or Chips
  2. Ø  Refurbishing Educational and Public Health facilities
  3. Ø  Lobbying policymakers and officials to prioritize economic development and job creation
  4. Ø  Researching the root causes of the individual and national poverty and developing solutions
